I am going to paint/repaint an asbestos-containing sustrate. What should I do?

If asbestos is present or suspected in any item or surface, exercise extreme caution. Read the further advice, which is given in a BCF Information Paper "Asbestos and Decorative Coatings" and in a National Society for Clean Air leaflet on asbestos www.nsca.org.uk Professional painters and decorators must comply with asbestos regulations and follow HSE guidance on handling asbestos–containing materials. Details of these are included in the BCF Information Paper.
