Does colour matter?
Colour certainly does matter as it can make a huge impact on a room. It is advisable to do a test patch of colour on different walls in a room before buying the required quantity of paint, as the colour you like in another house may look very different in your own. The colour is affected by the amount of natural light available and the size of the room, and the overall effect of the colour can be influenced by differing curtain fabrics and other soft furnishings used.
The type of artificial light used to light a room can seriously affect the colour of the paint due to the colour temperature e.g. yellowish for tungsten light, various colours for fluorescent lighting and halogen lights range from blue, through yellow to red.
Blues can be used to give a feeling of peace and serenity, oranges for warmth, yellows for a sunny feel, and greens for a natural relaxed mood. Whites and creams can be mixed with the contemporary vibrant colours available today, or to be bold use contrasting colours.
